Get Answers To All Your Questions With The Official Quora App For iPhone

Get Answers To All Your Questions With The Official Quora App For iPhone:

A few days back we covered Local Hero, an app which helps you get answers to any question from experts near you. But the whole location-based thing might feel like a restriction to some people and for that reason, you might consider trying out the latest Q&A app for iOS named Quora. While the app itself is new, the service isn’t. You can find solutions to just about any problem on Quora by inputting your searches in the form of queries. The official Quora app is free, and comes with a bunch of really helpful features. Read on to find more about this new and useful app. Quora QuestionsQuestions Near You

Just like Local Hero, Quora makes use of your current location and provides you with a list of questions and topics that might interest you based on your current area. However, that’s not all by any means.

Let’s start from square one. A bit of a downside: you need to sign up for a new account to be able to use Quora (that’s yet another password for you to remember!). But apart from that, there are only positives.

Suggested TopicsProfile

With Quora, you can follow any number of topics and get access to all the questions other users have asked regarding that particular topic. Based on your current location and the topics you are already following, the app suggests new topics that might be of interest to you. Apart from that, you can use the basic feature of the app, posting your own new queries if you don’t find what you are looking for. But as with any other forum, it is advised to search for the answer you are looking for first, to keep Quora uncluttered. The Nearby section of the app lets you view questions and find answers from people near you, letting you respond to people’s queries too. The app even lets you customize your profile, bringing a touch of social networking to the app.

Quora is a free app and you can grab it at the link given below for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Amid all the hustle bustle of daily life in which almost everyone (including students, doctors, and business men/women) is looking to get their tasks managed (or at least, listed) in an orderly manner, it is only befitting that one can find tailor-made task management apps across app stores of all popular platforms. Any such app, no matter however different in its looks, comes with more or less the same features. In this context, Conqu too, is no exception.

02-Conqu-Android-Home03-Conqu-Android-New-Task

On the app’s homescreen, you can find all the different categories ranging from all your pending tasks for the day, for the next coming days, for the distant future as well as for unscheduled tasks. The number/digit besides each category represents the pending tasks under that category.

Adding tasks with Conqu is simple. For this, you need to tap on a category (or on the plus sign at the top). For each new task that you create, you can add a relevant title, project name, context, tags, time for task, energy level, flag color (for easy identification), notes, due date and the date for which it has to be scheduled. All the aforementioned categories require only a few taps to get attached to the task.

Capture, Edit & Share Photos With The Official Flickr App For Android

Capture, Edit & Share Photos With The Official Flickr App For Android:

00-Flickr-By-Yahoo!-Featured

Yahoo! released their official Flickr client for iOS a couple of years ago while the Android variant of said app probably wasn’t even in the pipeline. Well, the official Flickr mobile client has just arrived in the Android Market. Along with the ability to edit (apply filters to) and share photos over the network, Flickr for Android brings an unending stream of photos shared by more than 60 million Flickr users, a camera replacement, geo-tagging, privacy filters for sharing pictures online, slideshows and more.

01-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Welcome

Provided the years-old trusted services of Yahoo! and their photo sharing wonder, Flickr, you’d have to be an alien to photo sharing if you don’t at least own an account of said service. The Flickr app, by the way, requires you to log in with your Yahoo credentials. If, for some reason, you don’t have a Yahoo ID, you can use your Facebook or Gmail ID. If you want to create a new account, you can avail the in-app registration facility.

10-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Home02-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Filters

Once logged in, you’re taken to the Activity screen that displays your recent activities on Flickr (comments and all). If your account is void of pictures, you are offered to join the Flickr world by sharing your first snap. The best way of doing this is by pressing the Take a picture now button.

Grab a photo, give it a title, add some details, add an exotic filter (interestingly, based on the names of famous cities), tap Next, add another social network/mail client of yours (requires login) and finally, hit Upload.

05-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Search06-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Photo

Talking of capturing images, Flickr has its own built-in camera, though with just basic options and nothing noteworthy. While in the camera, you get buttons for enabling/disabling flash, importing an image from your device’s gallery, setting aspect ratio for the picture and jumping to your Flickr gallery. Details that can be added to any image (which you wish to share) include a brief description, tags and toggles to keep location as well as the photo public or private. Under the private menu, you can opt to share the photo with your family, friends or both.

10-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Camera09-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Photo-Full-Screen

While the You tab on the app’s homescreen carries all your Flickr shares and favorites, the Contacts tab contains all the photos shared by your friends. Don’t have a Flickr friend? Just tap the Find your friends now! button to head over to the app’s search screen from where you can search for both people and photos. This screen also keeps a tab on your recent searches.

08-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Photo-Details11-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Find-People

If you searched for a person, you can view a list of matching users, where in front of each user, the list displays the number of photos and videos he/she shared on Flickr. You may sort all users by number of items shared (tap Menu > Sort),

If however, you’re on the result screen for photos, you can tap the Menu button to Sort images by relevance, recent or by interest. You can also Refine the search results by photostream, favorites, contacts or all. For all the photos displayed on the search screen, you have the choice of viewing them listed according to their titles, online stats and the user who has shared them. Tap on a photo of interest to view it on the photostream of the user along with its details, comments, location and various statistics. You can tap on a photo to view it in full screen. From here, you can play the slideshow of all images shared by a particular contact (awfully slow), add your own comment to a photo, share it with your online buddies and add it to favorites. Downloaded photos, by the way, are saved in the sdcard/Downloads folder.

03-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Add-Details07-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Add-Contact04-Flickr-By-Yahoo-Android-Share

With so many other photo editing/sharing/filtering alternatives already present in the Android Market, Flickr has to come up with better features to stay ahead in the race. In fact, the real-time Photo Session feature that Yahoo has recently incorporated into Flickr’s official iPhone & iPad client, if added to the Android variant too, would be enough to send a strong message to all those alternatives.

Flickr is available for free in the Android Market. You may download the app via the Market link or QR code provided below.

Samsung reveals 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, could make it into the new Nexus phone

Samsung reveals 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, could make it into the new Nexus phone:

Weeks ahead of its big Unpacked event, Samsung has announced the latest addition to its range of Exynos processors called the Exynos 4212. The dual-core Samsung Exynos 4212 will replace the 4210 chip that powers the Samsung Galaxy S II. Like it’s predecessor, the 4212 is based on the ARM Cortex A-9 core as well.

The biggest difference between the new Exynos 4212 and its predecessor is its processor’s clock speed. The new 4212 variant runs at 1.5HGz while the old 4210 variant pushes out 1.2Ghz. The graphic processor unit has also been given a performance boost. Samsung claims that the new chip has a GPU that is 50% more powerful that the unit it replaces. On top of all that, the 4212 is also 30% more power efficient that the current 4210 unit.

The proximity of the launch of this new processor indicates that it could make it into the upcoming Nexus phone (believed to be called the Nexus Prime) that is expected to be unveiled on October 11 in San Diego.
